Sharon,
For moms with possible positioning problems (particularly those
you aren't able to see yourself) or crack I suggest that mom lie
(lay? I never did get that straight) down or get semi-reclining
and let baby lie across her chest face down and nurse like that.
Is that called the Australian postition? I'm the C-sec mom and
it's also great in bed when you're early postpartum and not able
to lie on your side very comfortably, let alone turning over to
the other side. This shows that babies can nurse with their noses
in the breast and still breathe. I recently had a 3x mom who had
BF previous children, but evidently hadn't been paying attention
to positioning with this baby and got cracks on both nipples.
After a couple days resting the nipples and pumping, she tried
way to nurse and said it was really comfortable.
