A baby can get HIV from an HIV infected mother in 3 ways
1. During pregnancy
2. During birth
3. From breastmilk
The average chances that HIV will transmit during pregnancy or delivery
are 1 in 4 (keyword: average).
Many babies can be diagnosed as either HIV infected or not infected by 6
months of age, however, it can take up to 18 months for diagnosis.
