Dear Fiona,

The baby who suddenly refused the breast sounds like one of those cases where
you wonder what else is going on.  One thing that came to my mind was that
all this has happened over the Christmas holiday when stresses tend to be
high, mothers have many other things to worry about, there may be extra
people around or traveling to see people.  During the nursing strike how was
the mother feeding the baby?  Does she use a dummy/pacifier/soother (I'm not
sure what they're called in Australia!)?  These things may have had an
impact.  Keep us posted.
