Janna,
Someone told you that wheat, barley and rye are to be avoided. I also think, despite disagreement on the subject, that oats should be avoided as they are often rotated through fields that have grown wheat. The biggest issue, if celiac is diagnosed, is that thses foods are found in many, mnay other foods. It is really gluten that she is avoiding and there is gluten in many things you would not expect, like vanilla extract. Further, as celiac is gentic in origin, the mom or dad may have undiagnosed celiac themselves and should be evaluated. Many people have no gastric symptoms, but do have neurologial symptoms, infertility, etc.

BTW, Catherine in atl is very knowledgeable about this--Catherine??
