I was asked the reason why a recommendation was made that all women
in childbearing years should avoid giving blood.  I never heard the
reason, but I assumed it was to keep mom's counts as normal as
possible.  Maybe it was the "you never know if you might be in the
first weeks of a pregnancy" concern.  Anyway, I passed it on for
whatever it's worth.  Personally, I would think that if mom is
healthy and sufficiently recovered from childbirth it wouldn't do
any harm, but that was one opinion.  Glad to see others concur.
