I have had some issues come up and need your help. We try to delay the
admission bath until baby has breast fed. How long can you delay the bath
before it becomes an infection issue? Is there any evidence based practice
information. I have emailed the CDC but have not received information. I had
also told our staff that if parents insist on the bath just hold off washing their
hands until infant has fed well. Some of our staff think that on or two sucks at
the breast qualifies having breastfed and baby is whisked away for the bath
but then returned to parents.
Please email me at my work email which is [log in to unmask] so I will receive it
sooner. I am listed on mail but home and won't get to it for awhile.
Thank you,
Theresa Klein RN IBCLC RLC
