Are there any of you out there who co-sleep during your BF time, let's say
>until 2 years old, and then put child in her own bed, and how do you do
>this? I am up to "three strikes and you are out

Jessica: This struck such a chord with me because I have been there; so I
had to reply to your post.

My personal experience has been that there comes a point when it is possible
to explain to a small child (even a two-year-old) that their presence in her
bed is preventing Mummy from sleeping well. FWIW, my tactic was to allow
them five minutes or so, and make an agreement with them that at the end of
that time, they would go into their own bed. Of course, they often came
back after a while, but as time went on they gradually got used to it and
spent longer and longer in their own beds.

My youngest (out of six) are 9-year-old twins and one of them still comes
into my bed if she wakes up during the night, but she knows she can stay
only for a while and usually goes back after she has had some comfort.

I believe in not making a battle, but being honest with my children and I
think they respect that (my oldest is now 22).

I'm sure that other people will have different opinions as to how to deal
with the issue - but this has worked well for me.

Best wishes,
