Hi,

i've recently subscribed to lactnet (thanks to Mothering Mag) and am
responding to the urge to post an intro email. so here it is: :)

i am a 27 yr old mother of one with one on the way (9 weeks and
counting!). my first is a girl and she is 22 months old. i've been a
stay at home mom since i had her and nursed her until she was 18 months
old. i initiated mother-led weaning as i greatly feared the prospect
of tandem nursing (having watch a dear friend suffer through her own
experience) as well as the fact that i was, myself, dealing with
mind-numbing, bone crushing fatigue and barely had anything to give.
to be very honest, i am actually regretting that decision now and have
spend the last few days quietly lamenting the loss in my heart. but
that's another story.

i became a CLC last september when i went to a 45 hr session in tampa
held by the healthy children project, center for breastfeeding. i
truly enjoyed the nursing experience and relationship and really
developed a heart for helping other women to feel and experience the
joys of breast-feeding. i also trained to be a post partum doula.
another of the many rungs on my journey/quest to become a pregnancy,
birth, breast feeding and childcare ... professional (?) (what's the
word for that?)

i was born and raised in Jamaica, but I live in the Bahamas with the
love of my life and my very best friend: my (Bahamian) husband of 7
years (and, of course, our girl).

i think that's about it. i feel a bit awkward about this email as i
kind of feel like i'm writing it to no one in particular - if you know
what i mean. but don't hesitate to write if you have any questions.

kind regards,

cian
