Dear Colleagues,
I have a mom that has been having low supply issues. She can pump ½ to
1 oz. but not anymore. She has been supplementing after breast since
early days postpartum baby is now 6-8 wks. She took reglan without any
success. No retained placenta. Breasts did some increase during
pregnancy but not significantly. Never had any engorgement. Baby is
happy to be at breast. She tried the SNS but finds it too cumbersome.
Has resolved to feeding baby before leaving for work and when she
returns and the rest if formula. She does pump when she is at work but
is noticing that the milk is becoming more clear in color. I asked if
she could be pregnant. States it is a possibility that at 3-4 wks did
become sexually active. Denies breast tenderness. I have never had this
question before. I have not been successful in finding that
information, or not able to find it in any of my resource books. I would
appreciate your information.
Thank you,
Terri Klein RN, IBCLC, RLC
