It is a good reminder, Liz, that it takes some time to get from mom to baby.  From a lecture I heard, mom's pregnancy levels are very important, so we need to get the message to women to keep up their vit D while pregnant.

I surprisingly found myself very Vit D deficient.  As someone who spends quite a bit of time outdoors at various sporting events it was unexpected to say the least.  I recently had them rechecked and got a note from my doctor telling me they were great and to keep up the supplements.  Supplements?  What supplements?  My "solution" was now that my daughter isn't playing softball all summer, the time I spend outdoors is frequent but in shorter duration, thus not involving slathering on the sunscreen every time I go outside.  I really believe if we could all get outside daily, not long enough to need sunscreen, long enough to build our Vit D, we'd not have a problem.
