Lisa Amir--
I had a mom/friend who had a recurrent milk blister w/ accompanying plugged
duct AND recurring mastitis. She had been well helped by LLL Leaders in her
own area and was doing the nursing on all fours, heat, soaks, massage before
nursing, etc. I added nursing her son two or three times a day in a position
that had his chin pointed toward the plug, and then applying an
anti-bacterial ointment (we used neosporin) in a sparing amount on the
blister area after each nursing. This was especially important after the
blister would break open, which it tended to do on its own rather than
needing to be popped. Mother had been suffering almost 3 mos, but had only
one more mild recurrence once we started this treatment, and then cleared up
for good.
