Just a note to let those interested in  WIC progress in more effectively
promoting BF'ing. I feel fortunate that California was chosen to participate in
a 10-state pilot study known as the Best Start Social Marketing/Food and
Consumer Service (FCS) Breastfeeding Promotion Project. (I don't know who were
the other lucky 9 states). 2  local WIC agencies will be the pilot sites for
Calif. (Sacramento County WIC and Merced County WIC) but info will be shared
with all 80 WIC agencies in CA. According to the announcement from our State
Branch, "participation will help shape NATIONAL priorities, influence
breastfeding policies and work on the leading edge initiative in Breastfeeding
promotion. "
