Hi, Tammy from Colorado again.

First of all, THANK YOU for all of the advice and support I got after posting
my dilemna with the local peds group promoting Babywise. I have passed it on
to the nursery manager.

Trouble is, she really doesn't see what the big deal is, as she "bottlefed
(her) two kids and they turned out just fine". So she told me that she had
enough material refuting Babywise to give to the peds group, even though I
have (and she really needs) more.

I think I will be leaving that lactation program for that and several other
reasons, not the least of which is that I was pulled off tomorrow's OB skills
day, where I was supposed to be helping with staff testing for breastfeeding
competency, so I can man the labor and delivery unit. Long story.

In the meantime, I have approached a local small, rural hospital (35-40
deliveries/month) about setting up lactation services for them. I got some
billing codes from the archives, but the hospital would REALLY like me to
have grant money to start it off. They see the value of having an LC, but
have little money.

I tried the archives, and got mostly info about setting up child health
programs (too broad a scope) to emails from guys NAMED Grant! LOL! I do plan
to talk to the DON at the local health department.

Anybody willing/able to share? Feel free to email me privately or onlist. I
feel kind of greedy asking for so much help in such a short period of time,
but thank you in advance, and consider yourselves given roses and chocolate
(unless you're allergic).

Tammy in Colorado
