Hello! I was wondering if anyone out there has a great program for postpartum mom's in hospital who have just delivered an infant who is in NICU, and the mom is needing to get started with pumping and is in the process of absorbing the whole situation.

I've only been at my current hospital a few months, we have a level 3 NICU and I do mother-baby. I have a fantasy that there is so much more we can be doing to support these mom's integrate this most intense experience. We set them up with a double pump to start pumping in the hospital , they go home with a pump in 2-4 days and we don't see them again. NICU will follow them and set the mom up with an LC but I'm wondering what we can give them in these first days that helps their experience. I personally can't imagine how overwhelming it must be for them to absorb this , recover from a C/S in most cases and be pumping every 3 hours. I was making copies last night of whatever I could find about pumping and premies- we don't have a set of handouts that I know of.

Would love to hear from you - thanks for your ideas!! ginny
