Hello Michelle

This reminded me of a mum with a baby that was pooing all day and the baby was in distress as the bum got sore because of the frequent green stools.

I don't know what she tried as I was not the one working with her, but I know that over month nothing changed until the mother stopped for a few days chewing gum (sugar free with sweetener) all day and the baby had finally normal yellow poos.

My thought was that the baby was reacting to the sweetener, as I know that sweetener can give diarrhoea - and in this case green stools.

Maybe worth exploring.

Subject: green stools

Help.  I know a baby who is now 5 months old, totally bf, and she has had
green stools since she was 2 wk old.  Once she had a 2 week period at about
4 mo that stools were once a day, and normal yellow.  We have tried
probiotics, and reducing foremilk, to no avail.   She is very active,
otherwise healthy with good wt/ht growth.  However, she has skin problems
due to the acidity of the stool, and often wakes 2X at night to get her
diaper changed.
