Hello Lactnetters,
I have a funny story about paced feeding. When my daughter was an infant
there was a period where she had to be fed with a bottle. I was fortunate to
always have breastmilk to put in the bottle. One evening as I was trying to
let her pace her feeding (following Dee Kassing's instructions) I noticed
that my daughter had been eating for about a half an hour and the level of
milk had not gone done much, if at all. I started thinking, "Wow I am really
the BEST at pacing feeds!" Some more time pasted and I saw that the level
of breastmilk had really not changed. I took the bottle and examined it
closer. That is when I realized that her feed had not been paced at all,
rather the hole in the nipple was clogged with a clump of fat!!!!
