On january 17th, I send my introduction to lactnet. It was wonderfull to see
how many people send me a welcome note. Thank you all.

I also receaved quite a few answers to my question on wet eczema on the
areola. They were all very much appreciated and will be helpfull to me and
my colleages in the future.
Since it took me so long to get myself subscribed to the lactnet, partly
because the network always seems to be down, I was not in time with this new
information to help the mother, but luckyly, her GP helped her eventually in
the way most of you suggested, by puting a steroid ointment on the breast.
When I called het yesterday she told me the skin was clossed again and she
was building up breastfeeding again. She had been feeding three times a day
and had been pumping the other feeds. Nice to mention is the comment of her
GP when the skin was finally healed. He told her he should have send her to
a dermatologist because of the seriousnes of the matter, but didn't because
he was almost sure the dermatologist would have said:'Why dont you just quit
breastfeeding". And he wouldn't do that to her. Isn't that nice. Eventually
he applied Diprosone ones every two days himself, because he wanted to keep
a close look at the healing proces. Thanks to you all I was able to tell the
mother he did the right thing, he could have given her three times dayly
instead. I am sure this information will reach the GP and perhaps another
breastfeding mother will benefit from this information. Anyway I will put
this first very rewarding experience of mine with the lactnet in the Dutch
NVL Info, so all my colleages can learn from it and perhaps some of them
will even join the lactnet.
