"I'd like to hear from some of you gals or fellows out there about what your hospital does to insure the safety of infants while in mom's bed. Any mom's falling asleep and baby falling from bed during feeds or after? Has been a hot topic for us and how to prevent an accident. I am esp. worried about the sedated post c/s mom."

What do hospitals do to insure the safety of infants in the arms/laps of sleepy mothers sitting up in chairs or in bed? Isn't this a safety issue? I know of one case where a mom was "dutifully" sitting in a chair to nurse, dozed off and her infant fell to the hard, uncarpeted hospital floor resulting in a cracked skull! (fortunately, no apparant long-term injury in this particular case) Many mothers, myself included, have been "won over" to taking infant into bed by having similar occurrances, or close to them. In my case, I woke as my daughter was just about to roll off my lap. From that time on and with my subsequent child, baby came into bed with us at night!
It seems it is only those who are doing something "out of the ordinary" that have to prove it is safe!
