Kathy,

I brought this up on lactnet sometime during the beginning of this year or at
the end of 1997 when I came across a mum with this and her Obst also blamed it
on the breastfeeding.....sigh, so have another look in archives.

It is NOT the breastfeeding that has/is caused/ing this problem. Get mum to a
obstetric physiotherapist who understands this. She may need to be on
medication to help with the pain, she needs to move about as little as
possible - so breastfeeding will definitely help her in that! Going up and
down stairs is to be avoided if at all possible. It may be comfortable for her
to sleep with a pillow between her legs at night. It helps to wear a double
wide-band of stretchy stocking bandage tight around her hips, the
physiotherapist should be able to get this for her. This is going to be a
long slow process getting better.
