Check out the AAP policy statement on Breastfeeding. It states that reports
of detrimental effects of environmental exposure via breastfeeding are rare
and accompanied by clinical indications of poisoning in the mother. It
recommends that breastfeeding continue unless and until the mother shows
signs of poisoning.

Subject: [LACTNET] Military mom, hazardous chemicals

Dear everyone

WABA has received a request for info from a nursing mom who works in the
military as a jet engine mechanic, worried about returning to work and
exposure to hazardous chemicals; jet engine fuel, engine oil, anti-seize,
hydraulic fluid.

Does anyone have any info, or can direct me to the right place, about the
effects on the nursing baby?

Thanks for any help. And apologies if this has been discussed before, I've
searched the archives for the above, but search says nothing found.

Pamela
