Hello all
Have to share a case (have permission to post) about a woman I am working
with.
She bf her first baby for 14 mo, despite very damaged nipplesinitially,
which took about 5 weeks to resolve. She was ambivalent about bf this time
around, partly due to relationship and other issues more than bf.
No money for formula.

Sadly, she ended up birthing in another town, as her dad was dying. He died
2 days after baby was born, and that hospital arranged midwifery follow-up.
Baby fed for a day or 3, then 'it all got too much' with grief stress etc
and rather than opting to pump or even just use formula for a few feeds, the
advice the midwife gave was 'yes, too hard to bf, here's some dostinex"
Grrrr!
Anyway, she came home after 10 days and eventually decided she was missing
the bf relationship and hadn't bonded. Breasts were very soft.
Decided to give it a go - pumped from day 15 with a mini-electric a few
times, put baby to the breast and at first she wasn't happy. Did use a
nursing supplementer but didn't like it.
But by day 21 having just one bottle a day and baby seems to be happily bf!!

Glad of some sucess stories.
By the way the mum is only 22 - I agree about 'older' breast tissue - not
quite always so productive.
