Hi Everyone. PTP: I need some help with a mom breastfeeding 9 day old
twins. They were 39w gestation and both 7+ pounds. Vaginal birth
w/epidural. The twins are not quite up to their birth weight yet but
almost. Her milk is in, there is a great latch, but mom has burning
pain in her breasts all of the time - not just with nursing. She states
that she has been icing them because it kills the pain a bit. I
encouraged her to try hot packs/towels and she states she has tried this
but it makes it worse; warm showers too. She has a blood taste in her
mouth when nursing. The constant fire-like pain in her breasts becomes
toe curling excruciatingly painful per mom. She is in tears just
thinking about feeding again. She has talked with MD and lactation
consultant at the hospital with no progress. I am out of my league on
this one and need help for mom. She states she is getting to the point
where she feels she needs to stop breastfeeding because of the pain, and
that she doesn't want to do that because breastfeeding is very important
to her. Any help is greatly appreciated. Please email me off-list as I
get digest mode and want to get some ideas to mom asap. Thank you!!!

Angie
