When her incision permits her to lie on her side, this will be ideal. At present, her abdomen extends well beyond the reach of her breasts, but positioning can be worked out. Baby has more muscle tone than mom does.
Mom has already asked about using a sling and I will give family info on where to find one. They did turn the fan off for baby's feed, by their own initiative. I didn't mention it.

Baby did feed very well. All visuals were good. Mom reported strong tugging; denied feeling nipple pain. Baby looked content. s/s swallowing observed; frequency of swallows slowly increasing. In his own time, he literally popped off. I helped mom move baby up to center chest. He immediately started rooting, so I assisted with supporting him down to the opposite breast. Repeated procedure. Then he went back to the first breast for a brief "top off". Mom was smiling. OB Doc arrived, so I gave babe to Dad to hold, complete frontal contact on his chest. Babe settled in to snooze. Nsy RN had been worried because babe had been a "poor feeder" initially on breast and certainly by bottle. She insisted on a ChemStrip before this feed because 5 hours had passed since the last formula feed - 54 reading. There was nothing "poor" about this breastfeeding.
