Pat,
I think that the research was post pregnancy.  So even though the pregnant and
immediate postpartum woman may have brain mush, or what I have often called
the new mother "fog", it is the long term effect of having been pregnant and
breastfeeding that increases our brain power with age, rather than keeping us
in a fog forever!
