Folks,
I think we are all to blame, men and women. Both sexes plan and coordinate
conferences and everyone has their own opinions on whether or not babies/kids
should be allowed. The people (men and women) who cause the problems are
those who do not have enough sense or respect to leave when their babies
become fussy, noisy and distracting. It is these behaviors that cause
conference planners to not want babies in the conferences. I feel that if
everyone had respect for each other (for the $$ we all pay for these
conferences, and the effort it takes to bring kids to these things) and
common sense (babies do make some noise, and when they make noise they need
to leave the room out of common courtesy), then things would be a lot more
aimiable between all.
I could take my older son anywhere, he was quiet and very well behaved. Not
so with my 2nd, noisy, rambunctious and adorable. Parents must know their
children when bringing them to conferences and meetings and plan accordingly.
I had no sitters at meetings or college classes with my oldest son, I always
bring a sitter with my 2nd! :)
Let's not place blame, let's work to make people understand why these
problems exist, and work to correct them.
