How about this: A LLL leader aspirants called me yesterday to tell me that her 3 year old daughter decided to wean herself cold turkey, after some time of just nursing a couple of minutes to go to sleep.  The mother is experiencing strong PMS and a lot of sadness and anxiety.  She also told me that, since weaning, her periods are short (3 days max.) but very heavy.  My own son who is 3 and half, has also started nursing less and less.  Once a day for a couple of minutes, and since he's been doing that my periods are also very heavy.

On the lighter side.  The little girl, seeing her mother feeling not so well after she stop nursing: "Well, you can still have another baby to "drink" your "tetitas" (littles breasts in Spanish).
