I can attest to the look of a latch not being an accurate assessment. My 
sweet little Finn had a perfect latch and great positioning - I had the 
hospital-based LC check it out to make sure I was being honest with myself. 
When he was 12 hours old I was already smarting from his wicked tongue-tie - 
which the lovely Dr. Schwimmer fixed at 40 hours old. I was an experienced 
nursing mom and LLL Leader and IBCLC - had a great latch and position that 
anyone on the outside would have agreed was perfect but had yucky cracked 
nipples.
Listen to those moms who tell you it isn't right even when it looks right.
