Today my Infant Nutrition class gave presentations on their self-chosen
topics. Most presentations were wonderful and in large support of
breastfeeding the way we see it...however, one student recommended that
babies use Beech-Nuts bottles spring water with fluoride immediately after
birth! She said that the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends fluoride
supplementation-as well as Vit C and Vit D for breastfed infants. What is
the deal here and why are they saying that breastmilk needs to be fortified
regularly whereas formula has the "right" amount of C and D (and Iron)?
What??
