It has been some time since I have been able to come back to LACTNET due
to work and health issues. I thought this would be a good time to jump back
in.

Over the last 3 years we (myself RN,IBCLC and my co-worker RN,CLC who are
hospital based) have seen fewer and fewer medication and breastfeeding
problems. I wonder if it is because we have kept a copy of Hale's MOM on the
High Risk OB and Mother/baby units, we talk to moms about breastfeeding and
medications and many of them will call and check before taking mediations or
just to "make sure its OK". Our up-and-coming doctors are also being
introduced, our residents, to this wonderful resource? I have had 2-3 year
residents address misinfomred sturdents and 1st residents about not stopping
breastfeeding. It is really great. We have had OBGYN, and others also ask
about this book as a reference too.

I too have help introduce a couple of our pharmacies here to Dr. Hale. My son
who is a Pharmacy Tech. use to call me to ask questions about breastfeeding
and medications. I donated an older copy I had at home for thier use and
they later bought a newer edition.

The small steps we take, which often doesn't seem like much to us, can lead
to larger ones down the line.

I'm glad to be back reading with you all.

Ann
