Judy, I understand the frustration now, but in the late 1950s, when LLL was 
started, they were not *allowed* to put the word "breast" into the newspaper 
for meeting notices. The word "Nursing" was often confused with the 
profession of nursing, so they had to come up with something. 

I've talked with several of the Founders who said that it was frustrating for 
them, but women needed the help, so they did what they had to, for the 
times they were living in.

Of course, as the decades passed, La Leche League became a household 
word, at least in the USA. It would would not have been good to change the 
name after world wide recognition.
