Hello,

I also have some anecdotal evidence to contribute to this discussion, but only from my own personal experience - not very scientific.

As I have posted previously, my son has a life threatening bovine allergy. When he was tested at age two, he also tested allergic to pork. We later discovered that because American pork is mostly raised and fattened on cow's milk, that these American pigs received enough dairy to cause my son to react to their meat as well.

He is seven now, and will hive up if any cow's milk touches his skin, and his throat swells immediately if he ingests any dairy products. He nursed for four years, and once we were given a diagnosis I cut out all beef/dairy/pork from my diet for the two remaining years that he nursed. Unfortunately, it was too late, and he didn't outgrow the allergy. He is able to eat pork now, but no dairy or beef.

I thought you might find the information about the pork interesting...

Take Care,

I have no scientific journal references etc. to answer your question about if allergy to one
means allergy to the other but I do have personal experience. I am allergic to both chicken
and chicken eggs.
