I just got a phone call from a woman who has gallbladder problems. Her bile
ducts are clogged, and her liver enzymes are way out of whack. The doctor
will not do surgery until the liver enzyme levels are more towards normal.
Amylase is 2082, and bilirubin is high. I do not know how high. She was
told not to nurse until she called the pediatrician. He told her to call
me. I am not a doctor, and do not know the implications of nursing with her
numbers out of control. My brain and heart tell me it is ok. Baby is five
months old, and has been nursing well up to this point. If you have any
bright ideas to send my way in terms of why she should or should not nurse I
would be pleased to pass them on to her.

Thanks again for all your great input.
