Thanks heather, could only find two articles, mom just wants to know if

Lois- there are a lot of posts in the archives about this, and it 
would be useful for you to read through them.  It's not that unusual 
an issue, and it's to do with the way the fats saponify (IIRC) on 
freezing. You can avoid it happening by scalding the milk first.
