I got an interesting email from a mom today. When she was 3 months pregnant
with her fourth baby the doctor discovered an ovarian cyst on her only ovary.
She had this cyst and her only remaining ovary removed while she was
pregnant. She nursed her first three children successfully and her new baby
is now 10 months old and nursing well. She asks if she will go into
menopause soon without her ovary and how will that affect her milk supply.
It would seem to be that this would not affect her milk supply now, since her
baby is already 10 months old and her milk supply is fine. I don't know how
having both ovaries gone will affect her lactation at this point. Does
menopause have an affect on lactation?
Please email me privately as I am currently no mail. Thanks!
