Is it o.k. for a mother of a 3 1/2 month baby to take Diflucan
(fluconazole) for yeast in the milk ducts? Topical meds have not been
all that effective. The mother has terrible burning/stinging sensations
and is ready to give up nursing unless she can take a medication that
will get rid of this thing. The OB told her to stop nursing. The ped
says he never heard of yeast in the ducts and the derm says he will
treat topically. He would like to hear medical opinions about treating
yeast with oral medications. What meds are recommended and at what
dosage.

Please respond ASAP.
