Katy, there has been discussion of this -- I believe about a year ago?

The question posted at that time was about a mother who felt rage at letdown.
The first spate of answers all urged the LC who posted (sorry, I forget
who it was) to investigate abuse and other underlying emotional answers.

Within another day or so, however, a bunch of folks (including me, hi!) had
posted about variations on sadness, angers, etc at letdown. I used to call
it "nursing tristesse," to my husband's unappreciated amusement -- in the
early days it used to make me weep every feeding, especially but not only
with my first child. Some posters felt it most at stressful times; others
when overful, dealing with strong MER, etc. Some speculated that it might
be a reaction (some said a paradoxical reaction, but I'm not so sure about
that) to oxytocin.

My recollection is that nearly everyone reported it decreasing over time.

Good luck to this mom -- she is not a freak, I've been there, it goes away
and gets better soon!

Warmly, Elisheva
