Dear Friends:

Jaye asks about reasons for jaundice in the first 24 hours. Jaundice in the
first 24 hours of life is not normal.

There are many: sepsis, erythroblastosis fetalis, concealed hemorrhage,
cytomegalic inclusion disease, rubella, congenital toxoplasmosis, extensive
bruising or hematomas.
