Oh wise and experienced ones!

I need some good advice. I have no experience with this one and with that am
probably the best resource on island for this one - thanks to Lactnet.

Soon to be adoptive mom client will need to feed baby from birth. She is not
too interested to BF although still exploring that option and will need
supplement even if she does. She is going to be a single mom and hopes to
bring the baby with her to work for the first month. I suggested a wet-nurse
but she fears the baby will bond with her. Expressed milk from bio-mom
brings up similar fears for adoptive mom as well as logistical problems:
bio-mom lives on other side of island, has no fridge, no transportation, no
electricity. Also bio family wants baby out of picture right away.

Adoptive mom has sister in Hawaii who can mail ABM here. Reverse osmosis
treated bottled water is available here. Adoptive mom has car, electricity,
fridge. Please, suggestions... criteria for choosing best ABM...ideas... any
advice welcomed.

I am really encouraging colostrum even if few drops fed by finger from cup.
Will see what adoptive and bio moms desire and feel comfortable doing.

Thank you oh wise ones!

Sincerely,

Lisa Boisvert-Mackenzie, Midwife
