Ok, I will post what I sent off list earlier for the benefit of all...

In my experience the digital zoom feature on cameras is generally pretty
crummy. It pixelates the picture rather badly. If you want very nice crystal
clear close up, go with the best OPTICAL zoom you can afford. The modest to
middle of the road megapixel should be more than enough, Olympus would be my
preferance - If you go to www.reefcentral.com (I know - the link is VERY off
topic - but these folks takes LOTS of close ups of their critters) there is
an entire forum on digital photography and LOTS of great information on
digital cameras and photo techniques. I have seen some of the photos these
people take and they are VERY impressive!

of the differences between cameras and techniques.
