Great information!! needs to be taught Prenatally, discussed on admission of early labor or induction planning to breastfeed and shown to OB providers & L&D staff. The increase in elective, "post date" at 40.1 week inductions and increase in epidural rates over last few years....this is a daily hospital struggle of the baby that isn't interested or poor feeder.
Many OBs tell patients, get the epidural, it doesn't affect the baby, we can take care of your pain.

Parents then worry, the baby "won't take the breast" and begin to start mentioning supplements. This is also a problem with the hypoglycemia policy. Mom is diabetic- 2 day induction, pitocin, epidural and now we need to check a blood sugar after the first feed, but baby has no interest yet. We will just check blood sugar, if within normal limits...carry on. If not, then hand expression or supplement comes in. Frustrating.

Thank you again for posting. now if only the hospital didn't have restrictions on You Tube I could share with my staff
