The price paid for honey bought in bulk (by packers and brokers) is a WORLD price.  Honey is treated as a fungible commodity, so the cheap shipping rates and "self-certification" (translated to English, this means "go ahead and lie") policies of the WTO mean that the cost of shipping from the other side of the planet is not a significant cost.  So the price for honey is often paid based upon a competitor selling Lord only knows what from India, which means the actual source is China.

But the USA exports some too... it’s a messy situation, as market niches abound.  
I was vertically integrated, so I bottled all my own honey, and shipped honey in glass jars to health food stores even in Asia and Europe, which is utterly insane, but not for "Demeter-Certified Biodynamic" honey.  (You don't have to embrace the woo to just follow the procedures, and cash the checks...)

Exports
In 2021, United States exported $29.6M in Honey, making it the 23rd largest exporter of Honey in the world. At the same year, Honey was the 921st most exported product in United States. The main destination of Honey exports from United States are: Canada ($11.8M), South Korea ($5.78M), Chinese Taipei ($2.08M), Japan ($1.52M), and Kuwait ($988k).

The fastest growing export markets for Honey of United States between 2020 and 2021 were South Korea ($1.19M), Canada ($1M), and Israel ($761k).

Imports
In 2021, United States imported $651M in Honey, becoming the 1st largest importer of Honey in the world. At the same year, Honey was the 454th most imported product in United States. United States imports Honey primarily from: Argentina ($141M), Brazil ($115M), India ($114M), New Zealand ($95.3M), and Vietnam ($85.8M).

The fastest growing import markets in Honey for United States between 2020 and 2021 were India ($55.9M), Argentina ($51.9M), and New Zealand ($47.8M).
