I don't the reference for Cloake's 10mm, but it was 1975 that he was in 
the process of replacing most all bottom boards.  They had 50mm x 100 mm 
runners, mounted on the wider side.  And he had small tacks up in the 
four corners.  When you placed the bottom box on, they poked ~3mm in, 
meaning the box was less likely to get pushed off the bottom board.
