Today I had the opportunity to read through a book published in 1970 on
a SIDS scientific conference held in  Washington state in 1969.  A
teenage student worker at the high school parenting program I volunteer
at brought the book in for the teachers to look over as a possible
source of information on SIDS.  I was amused to read that breastfeeding
and sleep position have NO effective outcome on SIDS - in 1969/1970.

The really sad part of looking at this book is it had an original copy
of the teenager's brother's death certificate from 1983.  The child was
3 months and 6 days old.  The teenager told me her parents bought the
book right after her brother died.  She and her parents thought this
book was valuable today.  It makes me worried for all the other parents
with old and outdated parenting/health/nutrition books out there.
