In Deanne's post about Azerbaijan, she states that donating milk is
never done. So before we organize anything, we need to know what is
acceptable. I did not suggest sending donated milk to Azerbaijan for
this reason. Donating pumped breast milk in the name of the young
babies at that orphanage is still a good idea, though. It might bring
attention to this important issue. I think a person to contact is Lois
Arnold, who has done so much for keeping Human Milk Banking alive in
North America. In order to send donated milk anywhere we would have to
have a system in place. Do we have such a system? I don't know. I
really think tying in with blood banks might be a long-range answer to
setting up more milk banks but I don't know enough about it. Valerie W.
