Denise:  Just because the mother said her advisor was a "lactation
consultant" doesn't necessarily mean the person was IBCLC.  Remember that
"lactation consultant" is a generic term, not a title.  Absolutely anyone
can use it.  Maybe when state licensing or state registration becomes a
reality in most states, it might really become a title reserved only for
IBCLCs.
Have mom give you a little more information about her "l.c." advisor.
