what i am wondering about myself, since most people seem to be well on the
way to conferring sainthood on this young woman, is why she took one refusal
as meaning that she could not get any kind of medical care from anyone,
anywhere? isn't it a cliche that people who don't have regular health care
providers use emergency rooms often, even for non-emergency, even routine,
needs? there are free clinics here. are there none whatsoever in new york
city?

and why didn't anyone else notice this baby was starving? i do know that some
mothers don't seem to be capable of understanding just how bad their babies
look, when they are in really terrible shape, but presumably over the period
of this baby's life, there were a few other humans around that looked at him.
how could so many different people fail this baby?

(still POed about two HCPs in my area that looked at a baby in bad shape and
also did not "see" what i saw - starving baby)
