Hi me again.....guess I'm on a role today.

In reading many of the posts, I have become to acutely aware of where our
true job lies.

Childbirth educators, nurses, doctors, lactation consultants, LLL
representatives, everyone who has contact with a soon to be or a new mom. We
all face the same fact....... we are reaching these women too late in the
game. The message about how to successfully breastfeed needs to become
familiar long before she becomes pregnant.

I work closely with Gail Dahl, a childbirth researcher and author. We have
come to the conclusion that educating our young is where the differnece is
going to be.  I am sure everyone would agree with this fact.

Our biggest task (while trying to overcome the obstacles that are already in
front of us) will be to attempt to reach our young. And by young I mean
grade pre-teens. Possibly with the incorporation of the importance of
breastmilk in our diets during education on nutrition. They have to learn
this, why not include the benefits of the breast. Teach them early about the
function of the breast BEFORE it becomes a sexual object.

I know, I know....a long haul, but each journey starts with a single step. I
believe finding the person in each area of the globe that is willing to take
that step is crucial. Think hard, coiuld that person be you????
