the dance

We meet.
Looking at each other with such alertness.
I was so tired, but now I am alive,
just as you are.
The closeness,
So natural,
I take you in my arms.
Nuzzeling close we take our first step.
A little awkward.
We come together so naturally.
Everyone looks on,
Like we are on stage.
I get a little nervous,
Trying my best all the same.
Now is the time to listen,
But, to whom do we turn?
We seem to be stepping right,
A little out of tune.
I've listened to all the advice,
It's all swimming in my head.
I'm so tired now and tempted to sit down,
and let you dance in anothers arms.
Some tell me it is okay,
The dance is just the same.
Deep inside,
I know it is not.
Time and patience,
That is all we need.
And wonderful support.
Faith in ourselves,
Faith in nature.
As soon as we learn the steps,
We will never let go.
And then,
we will dance beautifully.
