I need some advice. I have one anesthiaologist at our hospital who insists
that moms pump and dump x 24 hours after tubals done under general ( why
they don't do regional I don't know) . I asked the OB whose patient was the
last to have this happen and he said I don't have a problem with them
breastfeeding post surgery. If they have a tubal done while still here
after childbirth they don't restrict breastfeeding. This guy says he is
supportive of breastfeeding but is also that he doesn't want these moms
suing him in 18 years when the kids don't get into Harvard. What are the
best research articles to convince this guy. He won't accept Hale over his
textbooks. The OB wished me luck when I said I was going to approach him
about this saying "Good luck, that guy is pretty arrogant" Should I try and
go around him and get a policy put in place. He is currently chairman of the
dept.. Anyone else dealt with this sort of thing.

Thanks,

Lori

PS thanks to all who responded to the post about tummy to tummy wording. It
was very helpful, I don't know yet what the final wording will be but I hope
all of the input from you all was taken into consideration.
