At our hospital in Australia, And many others around here I think, we feed
at 30 mls/kg/day, up to 150 mls/kg on day 5. So if a baby weighed 3400g  at
birth, on day 1 it would get 18mls (20 mls) day 2 34 mls (we would give 35
of course!), day 3 52mls etc. These amounts are calculated assuming it is
feeding every 4 hours, adjusted if on 3rd hourly feedings (rare). This is
for formula fed babies of course.
